The coffee

This lot originates from the vibrant, bustling community of Moki, with coffee-farming families who work tirelessly to produce some of the world's most exquisite coffees. This lot is processed at the Chelbesa facilities, and embodies the extraordinary flavour and character of Ethiopian coffee.

Farm/Producers

Located just south of Yirgacheffe, Gedeb is in the Gedeo Zone. The Gedeb district is home to thousands of coffee-farming families producing some of the world’s most incredible coffees.

Most farmers in the region farm on 1- 5-hectare-sized backyard plots (many count their coffee farms in terms of trees rather than area).

The Moki Natural Coffee is grown in the Gedeb region, located in southern Ethiopia renowned for its proximity to Yirgacheffe. Gedeb is widely regarded as one of the country's premier coffee-growing regions, renowned for its high altitudes, fertile soil, and ideal climate for coffee cultivation. The coffee is typically grown at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 2,100 meters above sea level, which helps to develop the coffee’s distinctive acidity and rich flavour.

The process

This is a natural processed coffee, this method requires the coffee cherries to dry whole in thin layers spread out on African raised beds in the sunshine.

The coffee is then de-pulped, leaving the results of the drying process (natural) to embed natural sugars, and fruit-forward notes upon the roasted coffee.

Why we like it

This is another great, Ethiopian coffee. With lots of fruity flavours, particularly berries, and chocolate undertones. Perfect for all brew methods.

Good Beans, Great Coffee

This is the second Ethiopian bean we purchased in our last order and have absolutely loved it. Drinking it as a Doppio (made in a Jura E8) or Americano, it is delicious. It’s subtle and soft without any bitterness at the end. Will definitely buy this bean again.
